Vintage Alto Clarinet from the H.Selmer workshop in France (mid 60's); serial #U9942B
Absolutely perfect and original French alto clarinet from H. Selmer. Range is to low Eb with trouble free-register mechanism.
- No "joint wobble", tenons in excellent shape, no pull down.
- Original ( ? ) VanDoren mouthpiece, new American case.
- No cracks to the wood, all new pads and corks
- If you are in a clarinet quartet or play in an adult community wind band, you've got to have a high-quality clarinet.
And....in our opinion, this jewel is absolutely the finest you could obtain. Previously the property of the University of Nebraska, it appears to have not been used for quite a long time. We've done a "complete" on this one, with all new pads and corks but did not replace any plating or worn spots due to the simple fact that the clarinet came to us in pristine condition.
No cracks, no damage of any kind. We note that the quality of the wood appears to be of higher quality than a modern instrument. The clarinet was made in 1965...did Selmer cut down all the grenadilla trees?
*** HAPPY to send "on approval", just to convince you that this is a clarinet that's truly "better than new".
AND.....might be a good idea to comment that "suggested retail" price on a new one is now $21,574 !
